WHAT CAN WE DO AT THE FARM

The majority of farm activities remain free in 2009. Parking is free and there's no entry fee to come onto the farm. Some of the free activities we offer this year include:

  • Straw Maze & Tower Large straw bales and tunnels are used to create a maze environment where the kids can play. In addition, a large tower is built out of straw bales in a stair-stepped fashion allowing the children to climb and walk around the tower with their friends.
  • Bean Pile Soybeans are an important source of vegetable oil and protein world wide. Soybean products are the main ingredients in many meat and dairy substitutes. They're also great fun to play in and we've got a large pool of beans ready for action.
  • Corn Bin Nothing says central Illinois like a large pit of corn for the kids to root around in. This is a popular activity for our younger visitors.
  • The Little Village Kids of all ages will enjoy playing in and around the mininiature houses available in our Crow's Nest play area. Shop for Illinois grown products in one playhouse and pedal through the village on our oversized trikes.
  • Mr. Pumpkin Bean Bag Toss It has been said that the game originated in Germany in the 14th century, and then was rediscovered in the hills of Kentucky over 100 years ago. The truth is, who really knows, but the game is great fun for all ages.
  • Dress the Scarecrows If you enjoy dressing like a hick or have no fashion sense whatsover, you'll find some entertainment dressing up our scarecrows.
  • Measure Up Step right up to Mr Crow and the giant cornstalk, Corney, and see how tall you are this year.
  • The Little Barnyard A trip to the farm just wouldn't be complete watching a variety of barnyard animals. No feeding though, otherwise they'll be as overweight as their owners.
  • Picture Perfect Spot We've got a setting where you can capture a great shot for your Christmas card.
